INTERMEDIATE/CANINE GOOD CITIZEN PREP
How Will This Course Benefit My Dog? This course is designed for improving home manners and preparing for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) or Therapy Dog (TDI) test.
What is CGC? The AKC Canine Good Citizen Program is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the AKC (whether they are purebred dogs, registered with AKC or mixed breeds). After dogs have completed and passed the CGC test, they may advance to CGC Community.
What is TDI? Therapy Dogs International, Inc. (TDI) is a volunteer group organized to provide qualified handlers and their Therapy Dogs for visitations to institutions, facilities, and any other place where Therapy Dogs are needed.

When are the tests? The last week of the class, your dog will be evaluated by an AKC CGC Evaluator. To find an upcoming TDI test, click here and select your state.
Class Prerequisites: An adult beginner obedience class is needed prior to enrolling in this class.
Cost of course: $185 for 8 week course
Course includes taking the AKC CGC test on week 8 at no additonal charge.
What to bring to class: six foot leash (no retractable leashes), flat collar and treats or toys for motivation
Class Requirements:

All dogs must be current on distemper, bordetella and rabies vaccinations and parasite free to attend sessions. Please bring proof of vaccination to first class.

Handlers under 16 years old must have adult supervision. Multiple family members are allowed and encouraged to attend classes. (However, at some locations we must limit the number of family members attending.)
