Fun with nose work
Dogs have an amazing sense of smell and a natural desire to hunt. This class focuses on teaching you how to encourage and develop your dog’s natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of toys, food and exercise. It's a great class for your dog to have fun, build confidence, and burn lots of mental and physical energy and to find out just how good is your dog's nose.
Class Prerequisites: Nose works is for all types of dogs. There are no prerequisites for the Beginners course. You must complete beginners nose work before moving to the more advanced nose work classes per the instructor's approval.
If you've never seen nose work in action before, below is a video of Patti and her dog Kirby doing a practice session of nose work!
Cost of course: $200 for an 8 week course*
*discounted to $165 after going through 2 consecutive 8 week sessions.
What to bring to class:

-
HIGH VALUE toys or treats (bring a selection of different things, sometimes your usual reward isn't high enough value for nose work).
-
We've found some of the following to be very motivating: Tuna, sardines, salmon, blue cheese, ham hocks, sausages, meatballs, liverwurst and hot dogs.
-
-
A small container or bait bag to put the food in (no plastic baggies).
PLEASE do not feed your dog before class, or feed a reduced meal so your dog is hungry and motivated! And if you have a high energy dog, please don't burn them out with a long hike or play session before the class, we want them to come to work!
Class Requirements:
-
All dogs must be current on distemper, bordetella and rabies vaccinations and parasite free to attend sessions. Please bring proof of vaccination to first class.
