I got my first dog Snickers in 1996, she was such a wild thing that I needed to do something with her. I saw Patti at Waukesha County Fair doing an obedience demo and approached her afterwards about assisting with classes at For Pet’s Sake. Assisting in classes helped me learn about training others dogs as well as my own. After assisting with classes for awhile, I soon got my own classes to teach at For Pet’s Sake and the rest is history, as they say!

I started training Snickers in obedience to give her something to do, with no intention of showing her, but; the more involved I got in teaching classes and working with my own dog, the more I thought I did want to show Snick. She is a great working dog, very full of energy and very eager to please. We have also been to Canada to show in obedience and walked away with 3 first places out of 4 shows!! What an experience.

I love all animals, I love working with them and training them and showing them. Currently I have 5 dogs living at home with my parents, one that is “mine” the others family dogs, but I show most of them.

I am a certified CGC/TDI evaluator and do teach the CGC/TDI class at For Pet’s Sake. I also teach beginner classes and am able to teach puppy as well as advanced, agility and flyball classes. Dogs will always be a part of my life and I will continue to grow and learn new things with my career with For Pet’s Sake.

What the students are saying...

I have been an instructor with For Pet's Sake, Mukwonago WI since December 1999. I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers and an AKC-certified Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluator. I teach the Shy & Reactive Dog class, Puppy, Adult Beginner's and Beginner Agility at For Pet's Sake.

My passion is working with dogs that have "issues." I was instrumental in establishing the shy dog program at the Wisconsin Humane Society and have presented shy dog seminars for the Burlington Pet Expo, Sheboygan Dog Training Club, BREW Midwest (Beagle rescue), and Wisconsin Sheltie Rescue. I also provide behavioral consultations for BREW. My husband Ron and I proudly own and love our three dogs: 11-year old German Shepherd Dog Rudy (K and N's Sergeant Rudolph, CGC), 9-year old Mini-Aussie KC (CGC, CL4-F, CL4-H) and 2-year old Mini-Aussie Theo (CGC, HIC). I compete with both KC and Theo in agility. Click here to view a video of KC and me running in CPE Agility.

What the students are saying...
"Amazing! It's not like the tools/instructor were any great epiphany or anything [in the Shy & Reactive Dog Class]; just needed someone to tell me how and when to use them. Jean does this exceptionally well, and yes it's even working outside of class. I always knew Mia was inheritently good - Jean showed me how to show others she is too!  Wendy & Mia

"I have and continue to learn so much from Jean. She has helped me keep my sanity w/such a reactive dog."  Alicia & Chase

"Jean never didn't have an answer to a question! Jean was so genuine & caring. She very effectively taught us the skills we needed to help Willa & we are now very confident that Willa's quality of life will continue to improve as we implement what we've learned [in Shy & Reactive Dog Class]..." Larry, Sara & Willa

She is excellent! She came highly recommended and has lived up to her reputation." Michelle

I have been training dogs since the 1970's.  Before that I trained and showed horses - hunter/jumpers. My breed of choice is the Rottweiler and I have been breeding and showing them for 20 years. I especially enjoy the versatility of the Rottweiler, and enjoy training and showing them in obedience, agility, herding, and my favorite, tracking.  My dogs have earned numerous titles, including the OTCH, and many CDs, CDXs, 3 UDs, UDX, HTs,JHD, AX, NAJs, AG1 &AG2, and many breed Champions.  I have also put at least 20 TDs on my dogs and dogs I have trained for other people, and 15 TDXs. Two of my dogs are Champion Trackers.

I have been teaching Agility at For Pet's Sake since 1998.   The classes are fun and there is a great camaraderie between the students -everyone cheers everyone else on.   Whether in the class for future competition in agility trials, or just because the dog loves to do the courses and learn something new, we all have a great time!  The occasional antics of the dogs are very amusing since doing agility seems to bring out the true fun-loving personality of the competition dog or the family pet.

For Pet's Sake Dog Training School has been a great help to me in preparing my dogs for competition in obedience and agility by the quality and variety of classes they offer and the opportunity to train in a positive and motivational environment.

I have been a graphic designer since 1988 and a web designer since 2000. In 1988, I graduated from Gateway Technical College with a degree in Marketing Communications and began working as an artist in the advertising field in Milwaukee, WI. In 1997, I graduated from MATC with a degree in Computer Programming and began working as an IT Consultant. In 2002, I received my WebMaster Certificate from Marquette University. (You can visit our Web Site at www.agilitybassets.com.)

My love for dogs, especially basset hounds brought me here. In 2001 my husband Ken and I adopted Jug Head, our first basset hound. Jug Head was a challenge and after working with him in obedience, we tried agility and loved it. Then in 2002, we adopted Little Miss Libby Liberty, call name of Libby. Our latest addition is Flirt.

Currently I train our dogs in agility, several nights a week. We even have all the equipment at home for training, built by Ken.

I teach Agility, Adult Beginners and Puppy Classes at For Pets Sake in Mukwonago, WI and have also began pursuing a career in UKC Agility judging. I also teach puppy and adult beginner classes at the downtown and Waukesha locations. I am also a AKC certified CGC evaluator.

I moved to Milwaukee from the Detroit area in July 2003 and spent the first 9 months trying to find a good place to train agility and obedience. I found several agility places, but I would have had to join a club (which I really didn’t want to do.) And most of the obedience places didn’t use positive reinforcement as much as For Pet’s Sake. I found For Pet’s Sake on line, gave it a try and it was a perfect fit.

I’ve been working with and training dogs off and on for the last 30 years. (I took a few years off after my son was born.) All of the dogs I’ve owned have been rescues, and I’ve learned from each one. Each has had their own special problems and issues. The last 5 years I’ve been actively competing in agility and have recently started to compete in obedience.

I teach Agility, Puppy, Adult Beginners and CGC Classes at For Pet's Sake.

Lucky - UAG1, CSL1-R, and CSL1-F
Samantha - CGC

I got my first Aussie (Samantha) in February 2000. At that time, I was a restaurant manager -- so doing any sort of training was out of the question. Then I saw agility on Animal planet and thought that would be something really fun to do. So I went from a restaurant manger to a bank teller in order to take some training classes.

While looking for some place to train I decided to get a second Aussie from Second Time Around Aussie Rescue (Lucky) in October 2001 Then in May of 2002 I went to a pet fair at the Wisconsin Humane Society and found For Pet's Sake. I just loved the demo that they did with all the dogs. Both of my dogs have been through the Adult Beginners class. Lucky has also been through Shy Dog class and is currently going to Agility class. Samantha has been through CGC class, Agility and currently in the Freestyle class. I do compete in agility and freestyle dancing with both of my Aussies. Lucky has his UAG1, CSL1-R, and CSL1-F. Samantha has her CGC.

I began assisting in September 2003 in agility and adult beginners. I currently teach Adult Beginners, Puppy and Trick class at the Mukwonago location, and Puppy Kindergarten at the Hales Corners location.

I also have 3 cats , a son and a husband.

Dogs
Molly

In 2002 I attended my first agility trial and decided I wanted to do that with a dog.  After researching different breeds I decided of course to get a Border Collie.  In December 2002 at the animal clinic where I worked a gentleman came in and said I am going to stand outside a pet store with this 4month old puppy until I get rid of her we can't take care of her anymore.  I asked what she was and when he said Border Collie I said I don’t think you have to go anywhere I will take her.  Of course I wasn’t sure my hubby would understand.  Thankfully being the good sport he is we ended up keeping her.  Thus started the saga of Sue & Molly.  Molly and I started obedience first where she got her CGC on her first try.  Agility started in April of 2003 we entered our first trial in December of 2003 at Hounds for the Holidays.  I fell in love with agility and became an agility junkie.

Molly and I have accumulated a total of 99 different titles over six different venues.  Our greatest achievements were making it to USDAA Nationals and NADAC Championships.  At both of those trials, I had one goal and one goal only making it thru every run without falling down.  That goal was accomplished and many more also.  I started teaching agility in September of 2006 at For Pets Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago Wisconsin.  I enjoy teaching others about this sport that I love so much.

Molly and I share our lives with another rescued Border Collie/Beagle named Toby, a cat named Tigger, my hubby Wayne, our son Marine Cpl Jason who is serving our country in the Marine Corp, his wife Lisa and his two sons Drew and John.  I added a new Border Collie named Relay in October of 2009.

Relay started her training from the moment we met in California at Karen Moureaux's (Contact Point BC).  She is a blue tri and is now 28 months old and into her first year of trialing.   She is currently trialing in AKC, CPE and USDAA.  She has already given me 19 titles and climbing.  We are still getting to know each other and I am hoping as the training and trialing continue we get better.

This year (2010) I semi retired Molly due to many injuries in the last few years she can not jump 16 or 20 like she used to but I have kept her in CPE where she can jump 12 and in some NADAC where she just runs tunnels and contacts.  She just finished her 99th title OTGO so she can move into Elite it took her a long time for that one.  She is and has been a great partner in agility.

My life has been forever changed due to this wonderful dog, Molly, and Relay has only added a new twist.  I hope and pray they both are with me for a long time

I have been around large and companion animals all my life, and since a child I’ve always felt a special bond with them, I think that’s why I’ve chosen the career path I have taken. I am the Practice Manager and a Veterinary Assistant (soon to become certified) of a local animal hospital. I took an Adult Beginners class in September of 2004 and started assisting Jean Jahnke with the Adult Beginners class in March of 2005; until I started teaching Adult Beginners and Rally-O in October of 2006. I’ve learned a lot from Jean and Harry Beggs, who was my instructor for Rally-O. I have also enjoyed working with the many people who have come through the training facility. It’s rewarding to see how the owners and their pets grow together and assist them with any problems that they may have. I take a lot of seminars and hope to become certified in TTouch and I when I pass the national boards, I plan on specializing in Behavior and Radiography.

When I’m not working or teaching classes, I enjoy working with my dogs, taking Hunter to the various assisted living centers, volunteering and doing demonstrations with Hunter, and maintaining the flower beds that I have added to my landscaping.

My love for dogs brought me to For Pets Sake in 2004 where I started with my first agility dog Kyann. Ever since then I was hooked on training, taking obedience, agility and trick training classes. I have assisted in beginning agility and then in 2010 I became an instructor for the Beginning Agility Class at For Pets Sake in Mukwonago. This summer I will be taking on an Intermediate Agility class. I love starting the dogs and seeing the transformation that happens over a few weeks and how the dogs and owners click to become a team.

I currently own a Border Collie (Wyatt) and an Australian Shepard (Macy) that I enjoy training and competing in Agility and Herding trials

I compete in and are a member of the following associations:
ASCA - Austrailian Shepard Club of America
